Streetly 3s v Buxton Mens 3s

Result: 2-0

Player of the match: Pat Cafferky

Buxton 3s travelled to a full strength Streetly side expecting to play decent hockey.  Starting the match with a mentality that stated calm and basic solid hockey, Buxton 3rds made it difficult for themselves .

The back 3 of pilot Caff, Andy Shaw and Dom absorbed the pressure well. Streetly scored a goal after five minutes from a player sneaking in to the back post. A shocked Buxton side hoped to get into the swing of things and use their pace and quick passing . A few moments of basics would have settled the nerves however a lose ball played to Streetly attacker resulted in a second goal on the 10minute mark. From then on in Buxton settled and gave Streetly limited shots and managed to play decent hockey. The midfield of Spriggs, Golding  and sessions managed to move the ball and create some attacks to which the Streetly goal keeper rose to the shots from Hewitt, Gibbs and Pearson.

Many decisions from the umpires result in a transformation in personality from a few thrust-rated players on each team. Neither team could convert for the rest of the game and the result stayed 2-0.

Buxton 3s gave the pink shirt to angry Hewitt which possibly should have  headed to Norton for stating that the word ‘hero’ usually comes before Norton in a match report.

Defensive solidarity earned pilot Caff his player of the game award. Buxton look forward to next week when Stafford make the trip do the dizzy heights of Buxton.
