Result: 3-2 loss

The day started out well with one quarter of the team turning up only 10 minutes before push back because Bradbury and Whibz don’t know how to read, with one being slightly slow and the other still being slightly intoxicated.

Buxton started the game strong maintaining most of the possession and putting a lot of pressure of Finchfields defence. Unfortunately due to a lapse in concentration Finchfield broke the deadlock to go 1-0 up. Shortly after this Buxton found themselves another goal down after a short corner which was placed in the bottom right corner. Last season, Buxton would’ve crumbled at this point leading to them conceding a fair few more goals but they battled on maintaining a faced paced attacking style of pay. This eventually payed off after Sam Longden found himself in the perfect position to tap the ball in after a Bartholomew rocket which was saved by the keeper. Half time 2-1.

As the second half started Buxton carried on putting Finchfield under pressure. Which eventually led to Wobberly-Cross to find the back of the net after J.E.Wilton tore the Finchfield defence a new on before passing the Whibz who placed the ball into the bottom corner, 2-2.

Finchfield’s attack questioned the defence of Buxton but they managed to keep them out with some excellent tackles from Baldworth, Bradbury and Hobnob. Buxton’s ‘under 15s goalkeeper’ Daniel Robins pulled out some excellent saves to keep the score at 2-2 for the majority of the game but Finchfield managed to find the back of the net after a rocket from the top of the D at a short corner found the bottom right hand corner of the goal.

As the game went on Buxton kept trying to find that one goal which they deserved so much but they just couldn’t find the back of the net. The well known defensive style seen by Bradbury of brave but stupid was seen once again this week as Finchfield’s striker rounded the keeper but Bradbury ran in slid infront of the shot stopping an almost certain goal to keep the score at 3-2. As the game came to a close Buxton’s high pressure found J.E.Wilton winning the ball in the Finchfield D causing him to be 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper but he was ruled to have kicked the ball (which never happened), this then led to him receiving a green card for questioning the umpire. The umpiring was very dodgy throughout the game and this could be put to blame for the 3-2 loss that Buxton did not deserve.
